Mattress disposal in Colorado Springs, with the surcharge explained
A mattress is the one thing the regular trash will not take, the landfill charges extra for, and nobody wants to strap to a roof rack. We pick them up from the bedroom, one or a dozen, and tell you the surcharge before we load.
Mattresses are a special case at the landfill. They do not compact, the springs wrap around the machinery, and so the facility charges a per-unit fee on top of the weight. That fee is why a mattress is $70 to $130 to dispose of instead of riding free with the rest of a load, and why the line shows up on the quote by name. Box springs are charged the same way.
Most mattress calls are one of three things: the old set after a new one was delivered, a rental turnover with two or three sets, or a PCS move-out where the beds are the last thing in the house. All three are same-day most days, and a mattress set rides along with any other load at the surcharge only.
Bed bugs, pets, water
Tell us. A mattress with bed bugs gets bagged before it leaves the room so nothing rides into the hallway or the truck; we bring the bags. A mattress that has been wet is heavier than it looks and may be moldy, and the crew will handle it accordingly. None of these change whether we take it; they change how it is wrapped and where it rides.
Donation
Clean mattresses in good condition are hard to place, because most donation outlets will not accept used mattresses at all. We will route one where possible, but honestly, most go to the dump. A clean bed frame, on the other hand, is easy to place.
What the price covers
From the bedroom
Carried out from wherever it is, including upstairs and the basement, with the box spring and the frame if you want them gone too.
The surcharge
The landfill's per-unit mattress fee, listed on the quote by name so it isn't a surprise.
Bagging
Mattresses with bed bugs or heavy soiling are bagged in the room before they move.
Frames and headboards
Metal frames go to scrap; a good wood frame or headboard is routed to donation where possible.

What the work looks like

Questions about mattress disposal
Why does a mattress cost extra?
The landfill charges a per-unit fee for mattresses and box springs because they don't compact and the springs tangle the equipment. We pass that fee through as a named line, not a markup.
Will you take a mattress with bed bugs?
Yes. Say so when you book. The crew bags it in the room before it moves so nothing spreads, and it rides separately.
Can you pick up just the mattress?
Yes. It's a same-day job most days. Put it with a couch or a few boxes if you have them and the mattress is surcharge-only.
Do you take mattresses from an apartment?
Yes, with the stairs or the elevator in the price. If the building has a loading rule or a time window, tell us and we work to it.
Can a mattress be donated?
Rarely. Most outlets won't accept used mattresses. We route one where possible, but plan on the dump.
Do you take the frame too?
Yes. A metal frame goes to scrap and a wood frame or headboard in good shape is routed to donation where possible.
